Alfred James Stevens was the son of Jabez Henry Stevens and Maria Waldron.

Alfred was born on Saturday 20 November 1869 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Alfred married Florence Wright on Saturday 1 September 1894 in Christ's Church, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.

He had the following children from his marriage to Florence Wright:

- Alfred James Stevens	born on 30 July 1896 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.
- Robert Ewart Stevens	born on 26 August 1898 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.
- John Charles Stevens	born on 24 March 1901.

Alfred was a Boot and Shoe Dealer.

Alfred died when he was about 77 years old, around 1947 in Littleover, Derbyshire.
