Hubert Geoffrey Phillips was the son of Claude Augustus (Gus) Phillips and Florence Whistance (Floss) Greenhough.

Hubert was born on Monday 3 July 1922.

He was christened on Friday 11 August 1922 at St James Church, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Hubert married Mary Green on Friday 26 July 1946.

He had the following children from his marriage to Mary Green:
