Robert King was the son of Reuben King and Elizabeth Broadley.

Robert was born on Sunday 5 January 1879 in Swetton, Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, North Yorkshire.

Robert married Annie Andrew in 1915 in the Ripon Registration District (Dec. quarter).
