Ellen Barnsley was the daughter of Benjamin Barnsley and Mary Smart.

Ellen was born on Sunday 1 June 1834.

Ellen married William Wright in 1856 in Rowley Church, Rowley, Staffordshire.

She had the following children from her marriage to William Wright:

- Edmund Fitzgerald Wright	born on 30 December 1857.
- William James Wright
- Elizabeth Wright	born on 4 January 1866.
- Albert Eland Wright
- Ellen Wright	born on 10 July 1869.
- Florence Wright	born on 16 December 1872.
- Heppy Rebecca Wright	born on 19 April 1874 in West Bromwich, Staffordshire.
- Thomas Charles Wright	born on 4 November 1877.

Details of Ellen's death are not known.
